A Chatroom of One's Own

At 30 years old, Celia affectionately refers to herself as an “overgrown undergrad.” Born and raised by architects in Cincinnati, design has always been a part of her life. She considered attending DAAP after she graduated from high school in 2011, but ultimately decided to continue her competitive swimming career at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, where she was an 11-time NCAA Division III All-American and graduated with a Psychology major and Statistics minor in 2015. After a 4-year stint in Columbus and time spent as an Anti-Money Laundering Investigator and Ice Cream Scooper, Celia ultimately decided to revisit her dream of becoming a creative professional, and applied to DAAP for the second time. Now, five years later, she prepares to graduate with her second bachelor’s degree and an arsenal of personal and professional experience in design. Celia is an expressive, enthusiastic, and thoughtful designer with an eye for detail and love of written communication. Her liberal arts background and non-traditional path offer her a unique perspective as a designer and allow her to thrive in the space between disciplines. After graduation, she hopes to find a job where she can combine her love of motion and interaction design with her passion for discovering what makes people tick.
